High Voltage
After 12 months or so of trying to put together a rock covers band, the four of us finally hooked up in January 2008. The band comprises of Evo on bass guitar & lead vocals, Graham on drums & backing vocals, The General on guitar and
me, Mark, on guitar & backing vocals. The head quarters for the High Voltage operation is based is St Agnes.
When we formed the band, our mission statement was very simple: play some kick ass classic well-loved rock songs with a nod to
the originals rather than mimic them like a true tribute band would. Oh yeah, and to throw in the occasional obscure track for good measure to get you lot thinking "Bloody hell, i haven't heard this song for years!!"
Between the band members, well over 200 gigs have been performed in previous band projects.
Since performing our first gig as High Voltage at the end of June 2008, we have had a great deal of support and soon filled the diary til the end of the year. We were also fortunate enough to play at this years Surftsock Festival in St Agnes which
for such a new band was a great opportuinity to showcase the band to a large number of people. The diary is already starting to fill up with bookings for 2009, so it looks like we're in for another busy year! We won't be standing still with material
like so many other cover bands either, new songs will be added as an on-going process so as well as your favourites from our current set-list, you'll also hear new stuff being added all the time. We also intend to add some more of our own songs into
the set just to show that we can do a pretty good job at writing our our stuff rather than just copying someone elses!!
The music we are playing at present ranges from old school classic rock from the 70s to modern day future classics, including songs by bands such as Thin Lizzy, AC/DC, The Stereophonics, Primal Scream, Feeder, the Foo Fighters and Queen. There will definitely be something for everyone! The band has the classic twin guitar classic rock sound due to a combination of Evo's powerful vocals, Graham's Bonham-esque drumming style and The General and I sharing lead and rhythm guitar duties (typically a Les Paul and Marshall/Boogie combo) resulting in a powerful classic rock sound you know and love!
